Event Description
The Tour De France gives us a grand excuse to use the tour to discover some French (and this year Spanish) hidden gems.
The Grand depart in Barcelona is an opportunity to taste some Catalan wine. The tour then crosses the Pyrenees into South West France where we can taste wines from Carcassonne and Pau. We are spoilt for choice as the riders head North to Bordeaux and Bergerac. The race then skirts Burgundy on the way to Alsace before heading south to the Alps.
Regions that are home to some classic as well as rare, interesting and unusual grapes and wines. We'll also enjoy a little cheese and charcuterie to nibble alongside the wines.
A wine tasting for all of you MAMILs and Francophiles out there.
Newcastle Wine School will chase down 6 exceptional wines to enjoy during the 2026 Tour. Wines you can enjoy in front of the TV highlights and that reflect the iconic climbs and dramatic scenery of the Tour de France.
Which will be your favourite and carry off the coveted yellow jersey...
