Event Description
In this fascinating new tasting we explore how Rioja’s rediscovered diversity could be its greatest opportunity in the face of climate change.
Rioja is justifiably Spain’s most famous and popular wine region. Traditional Rioja, an oak aged regional blend featuring Tempranillo, consistently offers outstanding value. But a new face of Rioja is emerging.
A new wave of winemakers is championing the region’s diversity of terroir; rediscovering high altitude vineyards once thought too difficult to sustain, recognising the precious value of ancient vines, experimenting with varietal wines from lesser known grape varieties such as Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo This is the Riojan revolution.
The tasting will feature a minimum of 6 wines with an average bottle price of over £30.00; including benchmark Rioja Reserva alongside new single vineyard expressions of Rioja personally selected from a new wave of winemakers visited in autumn 2022.
A unique opportunity to taste classic wines alongside small bodega producers not usually seen in the UK.
