Event Description
Central and Eastern Europe has vineyards that date from Roman times, producing wines celebrated by Kings and Queens. So where did it all go wrong?
The twentieth century was not kind to Central and Eastern European winemakers. The heavy hand of communism, wars, scandal and disease all but undid a centuries old wine culture.
Today the essential ingredients for a twenty first century revival are in play. Climate, ancient grape varieties, old world wisdom, new world investment and more than a pinch of passion.
These are the ingredients for a fascinating tasting. Specialist importer Vida Wines has the local knowledge and a mission to bring us exciting new Central and Eastern European wines that we can’t find anywhere else in the UK.
From established icons to rising stars expect quality wines from new countries, unusual grapes and great value. The tasting will showcase classics from Austria and Hungary alongside rising stars from Romania and Bulgaria
