Event Description
Why the world’s most dynamic wine country needs you.
South Africa wine industry in crisis
New wines, new wineries, highly qualified winemakers and new regions make the post-apartheid South African wine industry the most dynamic in the world. Today this exciting industry is under threat.
The domestic sale of alcohol is forbidden and wine exports have been banned in measures to combat the pandemic. The danger of unharvested grapes being left rotting on the vine has been avoided but many South African winemakers and their workers still fear for their livelihoods.
Our next series of online tastings supports South African winemakers and gives you the opportunity to taste top rated South African wines from the UK’s best South African wine specialist.
Museum Wines won the South Africa specialist award in the 2020 Decanter Retailer Awards. Praised for their carefully curated South African selection and proactive spirit. A spirit typified by a decision to pay producers early when the export ban hit, passing on savings to customers at the same time.
In four weeks of tutored online tastings you will enjoy eight carefully selected South African wines that represent the extraordinary diversity of South African wine;
· Colmant, Brut Reserve, Franschhoek, NV - Pinot Noir and Chardonnay part fermented in French oak barrels and matured a minimum of 30 months in the only purpose built cellar for making sparkling wine in SA. Included in Robert Parker’s Top 100 Discoveries of 2020.
