Event Description
A brand new food and wine pairing evening. Traditionally the Scotch Pie is best enjoyed with a cup of bovril. We are going to take this up a notch or two pairing 7 different Scottish pies with 7 wines.
At Edinburgh Local Wine School we love a pie. This is a celebration of what could be considered a national dish. In 2021 for National Pie Week the Scotch Pie came out on top throughout the UK!
As well as tasting the delicious combinations, we'll also talk about food and wine matching more generally, and you'll pick up some really good tips to take away and practice at home.
We'll try 7 different pie and wine combinations, and while they will vary a bit from tasting to tasting, will include at least some of the following:
- Scotch Pie and Claret
- Lasagne Pie and Chianti
- Macaroni Pie and White Burgundy
- Steak Pie and Shiraz
- Haggis Pie and Rioja
- Chicken Curry Pie and Pinot Gris
- Apple Pie and Tawny Port
