A fun wine tasting day (11am to 4pm) in an exclusive Cambridge University venue including delicious two-course lunch. Our Saturday courses are informal, relaxed and suitable for anybody from beginners to enthusiasts.
Beginning with Champagne, sample 13 wines from around the world learning what makes each wine different. We even demonstrate how to open a bottle of sparkling wine with a sword (sabrage)!
There's a choice of two venues - the centrally located Gonville and Caius college (where Professor Stephen Hawking was a fellow) or the beautiful Madingley Hall (where Queen Victoria sent Edward Prince of Wales to study at Cambridge). For both venues we include a mini tour.
What you'll learn:
- Introduction to Wine Tasting (recognising elements such as tannin, acidity, body, oak)
- Major grape varieties
- The effect of climate on the flavours in your glass
- Understanding how winemaking affects the flavours
- Food and wine pairings
