Event Description
One grape simply screams “summertime” like no other and that is surely Grenache? Hailing from the warmth of the Mediterranean basin, Grenache speaks of sunshine with its whiff of garrigue and plump juicy fruit.
Join sun-loving Richard Kilian as he takes you through this fabulously versatile grape; yes the classics like Cotes du Rhone and Rioja will feature, but there’s much more to Grenache than meets the eye…
Grenache is grown widely in France, Italy and Spain where is makes a startling range of different wines. Lighter, more fragrant smashable reds which can be greedily guzzled, lightly chilled, in the sun. Fuller-bodied, blockbuster reds with a lick of oak perfectly accompanying the cooler evening climes. Or what about all those fabulous rosès? What’s the summertime without a glass of Provence rosè (made from Grenache, don’t you know?!)?
To demonstrate the full delicious diversity of this grape, Richard will kick off your Glorious Grenache-filled evening with a look at the recently discovered white mutation of Grenache. Just as juicy and full-bodied as its red-skinned twin, Garnacha Blanca is an up and coming
grape which we predict big things for this summer! There will be a spot of cheese to pair with one or two of the wines, just to hint at the gastronomic potential which this grape has.
The only grape you need in your glass this summer!
Grenache, Garnacha, Cannonau, Guarnaccia… call it what you like, we just love it all!
