Course Description
Did you know that many grape varieties have a day in the calendar to celebrate them? It would be a shame not to take these opportunities to focus on some key varieties and that is what we have done.
We’ve put together 4 Masterclasses featuring some of the most iconic grape varieties in the world, two whites: Riesling and Chardonnay and two reds: Nebbiolo and Malbec. Each event works fine in its own right, but it seems a shame not to roll them into a short course format for anyone that wants to do multiple events.
There is a considerable saving to be made by buying the four events together, read on for more details.
- Week 1: Nebbiolo Day Masterclass – Friday 6th March. Piedmont’s iconic black grape that powers Barolo and Barbaresco. Come along and sample both along with other Nebbiolo wines from Piedmont.
- Week 2: Riesling Day Masterclass – Friday 13th March. Whilst its spiritual; (and actual) home is Germany, Riesling is actually grown in many other places and produces a variety of wine styles. Never dull, always interesting and one of my favourite grape varieties.
- Week 3: Malbec Day Masterclass – Friday 17th April. Argentina’s very own superstar grape variety and always a favourite wine on any tasting list. Taste six premium examples of this popular variety.
- Week 4: Chardonnay Day Masterclass – Friday 22nd May. Chardonnay may suffer from over-familiarity, but it does also produce the most expensive white wine in the world. Expressing terroir brilliantly, come and taste six very different Chardonnay’s from around the world.
Each Masterclass is priced at £60, but the four-week course is priced at just £200, saving £40, or making each event just £50 – for six top end premium wines per night.

If Riesling is my favourite white grape, then (depending on my mood), Nebbiolo is my favourite black grape. It has the same subtle qualities as Pinot Noir from Burgundy, but comes in a powerful full-bodied tannic wrapper.
Riesling might just be my favourite white grape variety. If you'd like to know why, come along for a "deep dive" into Germany's superstar grape variety.
Everbody loves a Malbec, but there is a whole world beyond the supermarket staples, and I've been collecting some superb Malbecs waiting for an opportunity to share them with a wider audience. That time has come!
Chardonnay: the supermarkets are awash with it, and ask for a house wine in a restaurant and Chardonnay is a good staple. But it also makes some of the best white wine in the world. Come along and discover the Chardonnay you've never met ...
