Event Description
Deep-rooted through age, old vines produce a lower yield of grapes and their wines tend to be more concentrated.
Beautifully gnarled and twisted through the passage of time, old vines deliver a yield that is fruitful & delicious.
Old vines are also said to transmit a greater sense of 'terroir' into their wines, harder to replicate in a younger vine.
Even more fascinating, old vines seem to have the ability to adapt to whatever "climate chaos" is thrown at them.
But vineyards become less profitable as they age and many are simply re-planted. That puts a rarity value on old vines, and various groups around the world are working to preserve and treasure the old vineyards they know about or discover.
With the help of the Old Vine Conference, we've pulled great examples of old vines wine from around the world to taste and learn from. Join us for an incredible tasting to try these wines and hear the stories behind the label.
We'll have white wines and red wines from Argentina, Australia, Spain (Jumilla), Italy, Portugal and South Africa.
All our tastings include a minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, use of professional tasting glasses and a focus on food pairing.
All our courses can be purchased as a Gift either as a dated or undated voucher.
