Event Description
How important is the age of a vine? Now’s your chance to find out in this tasting of great wines made from Vieilles Vignes/Alte Reben/Vigna Vecchie/Viñas Viejas – in other words, Old Vines!
Deep-rooted through age, old vines have access to more nutrients in the soil than younger vines and are more resistant to extremes of weather, diseases and pests.
But they produce a lower yield of grapes, so their wines tend to be more concentrated and rare.
Old vines are also said to transmit a greater sense of 'terroir' into their wines, harder to replicate in a younger vine. And they seem to have the ability to adapt to whatever "climate chaos" is thrown at them.
With the help of the Old Vine Conference, we've pulled together some great examples of wine from old vines around the world to sample and learn from. Join us for an incredible tasting and hear the stories behind the label.
