Event Description

Don't miss the opportunity to meet winemaker Jonathan Hesford and taste his intriguing wines from the Roussillon area in Southern France.

In Sept 2001, Jonathan and his wife Rachel were living and working in New York just a block from the World Trade Centre. When the planes crashed into the buildings, they had to leave their apartment quickly with only what they could carry.

That moment lead Jonathan to change his career into winemaking, starting by studying and working in wineries in New Zealand. Eventually, he settled in Rousillon where he and Rachel purchased vineyards and a winery.

Since then, Domaine Treloar has been listed as one of Jancis Robinson’s favourite Languedoc-Roussillon producers (8 of their wines are listed in her top 15 for the area) and Jonathan was a winner in the Prestige Wines of the Languedoc competition run by Sud de France and has been listed in Guide Hachette and Wine Advocate in the USA.

Come and hear Jonathan's story firsthand while sampling 7 of lovely Domaine Treloar wines:

  • One Block Muscat - one of the most subtle and elegant dry Muscats in the region, £13.99
  • Daltonien - amber wine made by fermenting Muscat on its skins (like red wine) to give more complexity and length, £13.99
  • La Terre Promise - named after the Bruce Springsteen song "Promised Land", a wild-ferment wine made from Macabeu, Grenache Gris and Carignan blanc, £18.99
  • Three Peaks - a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre aged in old barriques. Notable leather aromas from the Mourvedre, £14.99.
  • Le Rescape - from old Carignan using partial carbonic-maceration, a refreshingly fruity red wine that can be drunk slightly chilled, £16.99
  • Motus - majority Mourvèdre wine with complex, stewed fruit and leather, roast coffee and mixed spice, £18.99
  • Tahi - Maori word for "one" made from the best parcels of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre aged for 12 months in French oak and only the best barrels selected, £24.99

7 wines, full tasting notes, use of professional tasting glasses and nibbles.
