Event Description
Wine and chocolate: a famous love story, but is it a happy one? Get it right and it’s magic. Get it wrong and the wine tastes sour and the chocolate turns chalky. Join us for an evening of tasting, sipping and swapping notes to find out which pairings really work, and discover your perfect match in time for Valentine’s. Come as a couple, bring a friend or make it a night out with the girls (or the lads). Places are limited, so book early.
What’s in your glass (and on your plate)
Six wines, each paired with a different chocolate, and not all of them sweet and sparkling, as you might expect. Typically including:
- A sparkling wine with white chocolate, a light, creamy start to the evening
- An aromatic, lightly sweet white with milk chocolate and caramel
- A fruity, soft red with milk chocolate, where sweetness meets silky fruit
- A bold, structured red with dark chocolate, for the true big-red lover
- A tawny port with something nutty and caramelised, such as hazelnut praline
- A surprise pairing to finish, which will change what you thought you knew
What you’ll discover
There’s real science behind a great pairing. Why does dark chocolate make some red wines taste bitter and thin, while others come alive? Why should the wine be at least as sweet as the chocolate? How do tannin, acidity and sweetness work together, or fight? We’ll show you the simple rules, then you can taste them for yourself and decide which pairings make you swoon.
How the evening works
A short visual presentation introduces each wine and chocolate and explains why they do (or don’t) work together. You’ll take home tasting notes to remember your favourites, so you can recreate your perfect pairing at home.
Whether you’re treating someone special or just treating yourself, this is a delicious way to get ready for Valentine’s. Reserve your place today!
