Event Description
Explore the wines & food of Southern Italy and Sicily as we pair a specially curated selection of six surprisingly sophisticated wines with a 3-course meal inspired by Southern Italian culinary traditions.
Flavours of the South
Southern Italy’s cuisine is rooted in simplicity and freshness, where olive oil, pasta, vegetables, herbs, fresh fish and meat create dishes that are bursting with natural flavour. The region's unique history adds another layer, with Moorish influences bringing rice, sugar, almonds and spices into the culinary tradition and a love of sweet treats that you see piled up in the windows of local 'pasticcerias'.
Wine regions waiting to be discovered
From the sun-baked plains of Puglia, where vines grow beside olive groves, to the volcanic soils of Mount Etna, where tropical fruits and native grapes thrive, the south produces wines of surprising depth and character. Less famous than Tuscany or Piedmont, these wines are Italy's hidden treasures, complex, expressive, and waiting to be explored.
The wine selection will include Volcanic wines made with grapes grown on the fertile soils of Mt Vulture & Mt Etna, creating complex, age-worthy red and white wines. You may already enjoy a Primitivo from Puglia, but have you tried Perricone from Sicily? We will also present artisanal wines that demonstrate the diversity and breadth of Southern Italian wines.
A taste of Southern Italy on your plate
Guided by your wine host, you’ll journey through six authentic wines carefully chosen to showcase the character of Southern Italy & Sicily. With every sip and bite, you’ll uncover stories of history, culture, and terroir that make this region one of the most exciting in the wine world. As always, you'll be welcomed with an aperitif and then enjoy a 3-course meal with wines selected to pair with each.
The menu for the evening will be sent to guests one week prior to the event.
