Wine School Booking Terms & Conditions

 General Tastings & Courses

  • Your booking is not secured until payment is fully received – all events must be paid for in advance.
  • Cancellation policy

  • When issuing refunds we reserve the right to deduct unrecoverable payment processing fees incurred with the booking.
  • In the event of 'no-shows' - no refunds, credits, or transfers will be provided.
  • On our multi-week evening courses – if you elect to miss an evening (minimum 7 days' notice) you may either send a substitute, arrange to pick up the missed session on a subsequent course, or request a credit for the value of the event against any future events.
  • On occasion due to unforeseen circumstances we may need to postpone or reschedule an event. If alternative date or a credit is not acceptable we will refund payment in full. The refund or credit is limited to the value of the event.
  • Where circumstances are beyond our reasonable control, we reserve the right to postpone and reschedule all or part of any course or event and no refunds will be offered.
  • We reserve the right to change the venue of any event to one of equal or superior quality (and within the same vicinity).
  • We reserve the right to ask any person to leave any event if their behaviour is deemed unacceptable or disruptive to others.
  • You must be 18+ to purchase any tasting event with the school. We do not serve alcohol to guests under the age of 18.

Gift Vouchers

  • Gift vouchers are non-refundable.
  • Gift Vouchers are valid for 2 Years from date of issue.
  • While gift vouchers may be used at any Local Wine School, there may be a variation in price of our courses and events, based on local factors. You may need to pay an additional fee if you use your 'event' gift voucher at another Local Wine School from that purchased. 
  • If the event booked is less than your gift voucher value, the unused balance will remain on your gift voucher to use at a subsequent event.  
  • 3rd Party Gift Vouchers - please contact us with details of the company name and we can guide you to the appropriate tasting experience(s).

WSET, Wine Scholar Guild (WSG) and other professional courses

  • Candidates must be over the UK legal minimum age for the retail purchase of alcoholic beverages.
  • Bookings for these courses are refundable up to 4 weeks prior to the course start date.
  • All refund requests must be made in writing or by email.
  • When issuing refunds we reserve the right to deduct : an Administration Fee of £30.00, unrecoverable payment processing fees incurred with the booking, and the cost of any study materials supplied.
  • No refunds are available for cancellations received within 4 weeks of Course Start date.
  • On occasion due to unforeseen circumstances we may need to postpone or reschedule a course or event. If an alternative date or a credit is not acceptable we will refund payment in full (less the cost of any study materials supplied).
  • Where circumstances are beyond our reasonable control, we reserve the right to postpone and reschedule all or part of any course or event and no refunds will be offered.
  • Resits - you have the option to re-sit an exam. Please contact to discuss your options. It's not possible to book a re-sit unless you have received a "Fail". It's also not possible to re-sit an exam you have passed in order to obtain a higher grade. 
    WSET exam re-sit Fees:
    Level 1 in person - £109.  Remote Invigilation (online) - £155
    Level 2 in person - £140.  Remote Invigilation (online) - £182
    Level 3 (tasting & theory) in person- £219
    Level 3 (tasting only) in person - £112
    Level 3 (theory only) in person - £147

These fees are for resitting an exam at one of our scheduled/published WSET courses. Additional re-sit fees will apply if a separate, non-scheduled WSET exam is needed. You must have taken your WSET course with Local Wine School for these re-sit fees to apply. If you have taken your WSET course with another provider, additional fees may apply.

Note: WSET regularly updates qualification materials to ensure that you are always getting the most up-to-date information. If you need to re-sit an exam for a qualification that has been updated since you studied your course, you will need to do so before the deadline, or purchase a new set of course study materials.

 WSET, WSG and other professional courses transfers

  • Transfer of a booking to an alternative Course date at the same Wine School is permissible up to 4 weeks prior to the Course Start date – subject to availability.
  • Transfer requests must be received in writing or by email, and will incur an Administration Fee of £30.00
  • Transferred courses are not eligible for refunds

WSET Course Exams

  • Examination dates are fixed to the course onto which you book and any transfer to an alternative exam date will incur an administration fee of £30.00.
  • Exam date transfer requests must be made in writing or by email and are subject to availability.
  • Exam date transfer requests made within 10 or less working days of the exam date will incur the Admin Fee plus the cost of the unused exam paper or cost of online exam.

WSET Reasonable Adjustments

  • It is possible for students with additional needs to apply for 'reasonable adjustments' in order to receive extended examination time. Requirements will be assessed on an individual case-by-case basis. To discuss your needs, please contact us. Please note we require 6 weeks notice to be able to assess and agree with WSET what ‘reasonable adjustment’ is possible.

WSG Course Exams

  • Examination dates are fixed to the course onto which you book and any transfer to an alternative exam date will incur an administration fee of £30.00.
  • Exam date transfer requests must be made in writing or by email and are subject to availability.
  • Exam date transfer requests made within 30 or less working days of the exam date will incur the Admin Fee plus the cost of the unused exam paper.

Corporate & Private Events

  • For Corporate and Private events, a booking is only confirmed upon receipt of a non-refundable deposit.
  • Final numbers are required prior to the event, as will be specified in our confirmation email for your event. Our invoice will be based on these numbers, and payment of the balance must be made 7 days prior to the event date, or as agreed.
  • No credits or refunds will be given for events cancelled less than 14 days before the event.
  • Any change of date for the event, after a deposit has been paid, will be subject to availability.
  • Where a 3rd party is involved, any specific booking/deposit or other requirements will be advised in our booking confirmation.
