Event Description
France remains the benchmark for many of the world's finest wine styles and is home to many of the most prestigious regions and sought-after wines in the world. This tasting explores why French wines are so revered as well as what makes them so expensive!
At this tasting we'll also show you how to sip, slurp and sniff like a professional with a certain "je ne sais quoi"!
On our Tour-de-France you'll visit classic regions including Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Loire & Rhône Valleys. You'll also explore the sunny south of France where there is still great value wine to be found.
In each region we'll explain which grapes are grown and why. We'll also reveal how the unique combination of environment and local wine making techniques, known as 'terroir' influences the wine in your glass.
You can expect to taste a fine Champagne, a top quality mature Cru Bourgeois from Bordeaux, a fine red or white Burgundy, a classic steely Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire and a delicious village wine from the Rhône Valley.
All of our themed evening tastings include a tasting of six or seven specially selected wines plus water biscuits and a nibble of cheese and/or charcuterie chosen to pair with a couple of the wines.
