Event Description
Two very popular grapes. But, did you know that they are related? Discover their similarities on this tasting of two great wine making grapes.
Sauvignon Blanc: Some of the most interesting tasting notes that we've ever heard have come from this grape. Granny's greenhouse, spikey gooseberry and even a touch of grass. Originating in the north of France, this grape is now best known for Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. There are, however, many, many more styles to be discovered.
Cabernet Sauvignon: Thick skinned, hardy, late ripening, potential for high alcohol. This grape can be a beast, it can be elegant, it is often the world's most planted grape variety. Expect bell pepper, blackcurrant, pencil shavings, menthol, notes from oak and dried leaves as they age. From Bordeaux to California to Stellenbosch to Hawkes Bay. This grape changes wherever it is grown.
All tastings include: minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, tasting sheet, and use of professional tastings glasses.
