Event Description
Which wines will you bring out with Christmas dinner? It's a question we ask ourselves every year.
There are standard and less conventional answers for pairing wine with turkey and all the trimmings. At this tasting, we intend to discuss them all and give the reasons for the food and wine pairing thinking.
At the very least you will go away with a bigger-than-usual list of wines to try over the next few Christmases!
We can (optionally) prepare a practice run on Christmas dinner try try with the wines with minimal hassle. Either
- roast a turkey roll with some potatoes, parsnips, and sausages and serve with a chicken stock gravy and cranberry sauce OR
- just roast the potatoes and parsnips in a tray, grill some sausages and use sliced cooked turkey from a packet with Knorr chicken stock gravy OR
- eat a completely different evening meal and create a plate of Christmas dinner nibbles using sliced sausages (cooked earlier), cold sliced turkey from a packet and some dried cranberries
We'll explore the principles of food and wine pairing and see whether there is a clear majority opinion when it comes time to vote.
