Event Description
Join us for an informal walk around event at Corney & Barrow's beautiful Leeds Office on Park Sqaure. We'll be hosted by the C&B team and Tyrell Myburgh of Joostenberg Winery, a new listing in the UK. We can't wait to find out more!
We'll have 5 wines open for you to taste, and the winemaker on hand to answer questions. The evening promises to be a relaxed and informal affair, time to chat and socialise with each other and the winemaker. You'll be looked after by Laura, YWS Head Honcho and Spencer (C&B rep and former WSET student of YWS!) as well as entertained by Tyrell's stories of growing up on his family's wine farm.
Joostenberg is a small (30 hectares) family run organic wine estate on the border of Stellenbosch and Paarl. It was originally founded by Swedish settlers in the late 1600s and has been owned by the Myburgh family since 1879. It should be fascinating to taste and learn from someone with so much family history in winemaking in this illustrious area.
Wines to be tasted:
Welcome drink: Estate Cheninn Blanc
Die Agteros Chenin Blanc
Fairhead White Blend
Family Red Blend
Philip Albert Cabernet Sauvignon
As always with our Corney and Barrow events you'll have the chance to place an order with the team for any wine you want to buy, a small discount is usually offered for anything you order.
This event will run from 18.30 to 20.30, but is a casual walk around, chat and taste, evening. So you are welcome to arrive a little later or leave a little early. It's designed to be relaxed and informal, not a standard Wine School presentation.
