Always wanted to know which Germany wine region makes the best Riesling? Well this is your chance to find out!
Riesling lovers Matt & Ziggy will be going toe to toe with their favourite Riesling bottlings from Germany's key Riesling producing regions: Rheinhessen, Rheingau, Nahe, Mosel & Pfalz going up against each other and it will be up to you to decide which region will be crowned top dog.
Who is Ziggy, you may wonder? - Zigmars, or Ziggy as we call him, hails from the Latvian capital Riga, and has been working in hospitality pretty much all his adult life. Fifteen years ago, seeking new opportunities without moving too far out of his climatic comfort zone, he moved to Scotland, where his interest in wine took off. Since then he has drifted further and further south via various renowned establishments, going softer by the minute, and finally ended up in London, where he helped open Cabotte restaurant, famous for its Burgundy list. A move to Howard Ripley in 2017 was a logical step, aided by a love of Riesling. He has been living his dream ever since, and pursuing his Master Sommelier studies with dedication.
This fun, interactive tasting will be full of laughs, great wine and some healthy competition, as well as in depth insights into Germany's most exciting Riesling regions and producers. Come and help us decide who's righteous Riesling will emerge victorious!
