Always wanted to know which Germany wine region makes the best Riesling? Well this is your chance to find out!
Riesling fanatics Matt & Ziggy will be going toe to toe with their favourite Riesling bottlings from Germany's key Riesling producing regions: Rheinhessen, Rheingau, Nahe, Mosel & Pfalz.
They'll take you through their favourite bottles from each of these key regions and it will be up to you to decide which region (and presenter) will be crowned top dog.
Who are Matt & Ziggy, you may wonder?
- Matt is our very own Wine Buyer (and tutor) here at West London Wine School, with over twenty years experience in the wine trade he counts Riesling as one of his all time favourite grape varities and has travelled throughout Germany over the years visiting many of its top producers.
- Zigmars, or Ziggy as he's better known, hails from the Latvian capital Riga, and has been working in hospitality pretty much all his adult life. He more recently helped open Cabotte restaurant, famous for its Burgundy list, later moving to specialist German importer Howard Ripley in 2017, aided by a love of Riesling. He has been living his dream ever since, and pursuing his Master Sommelier studies with dedication.
This fun, interactive tasting will be full of laughs, banter, great wine and some healthy competition, as well as in depth insights into Germany's most exciting Riesling regions and producers. Come and help us decide who's righteous Riesling will emerge victorious!
