Event Description
Join us and Plaimont tonight to hear a story of passion, place, and progress. Founded in France back in 1979, Plaimont set off on a mission that still inspires today..
In 2002, Plaimont created France’s very first private ampelographic conservatory—a cutting-edge effort to preserve and champion ancient local grape varieties. This bold move not only breathes life back into forgotten grapes but also fosters a spirit of innovation, helping winemakers tackle modern challenges like climate change and the quest for lower alcohol wines. Thanks to their ongoing research, Plaimont keeps evolving its viticulture, always balancing tradition with sustainability.
Today, Plaimont is a powerhouse, bringing together over 800 growers, 5,300 hectares of vineyards, and 10 prestigious châteaux. They produce wines under the Madiran, Saint Mont, Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, and, since 2023, the Jurançon AOCs, alongside the Côtes de Gascogne IGP. Revered as one of Europe’s leading independent research hubs for historical ampelography, Plaimont is famed for producing wines that are bursting with character and uncompromising quality. Whether you’re sipping a classic or exploring something new, every bottle reflects their passion for both the past and the future of wine. Cheers to that!
