Pioneers of Port: Legendary People and Wines

What does it take to make great wine that lasts for generations on unforgivingly steep slopes, punished by the harshest climate and amidst great economic, social and political challenges? Tenacity, stamina and headstrong determination of a certain stubborn streak!

Join us this evening for a special masterclass and meet some of these people through the wines they helped creating!

Adam from School of Port will tell us why the Douro Valley became the first demarcated and regulated wine region in 1756, how the Bishop of Norwich became the first truly global influencer in the early 19^th century and will introduce the families behind some of the best known and long-standing Port houses.

School of Port is an educational initiative for wine professionals and wine lovers, created in 2020 by the port-mad people at Symington Family Estates to share the wonders of port and the Douro. Adam Odor is a London-based certified port wine educator, who got his WSET Levels 2 and 3 from WLWS under the tutelage of Jimmy. He worked with Davy’s and Majestic in the past and he runs tastings and masterclasses as the Ambassador and Chief #Portgeek for School of Port in the UK.
