About Planeta

Planeta is a family story spanning 17 generations and almost five centuries. Its modern winemaking chapter began in the 1980s, when the family set out to demonstrate the remarkable potential of Sicilian wine through a combination of experimentation, respect for tradition and an unwavering focus on place.

Today, Planeta has estates across the island and approaches Sicily not as one wine region, but as a “wine continent” – a landscape of dramatically different soils, climates, grape varieties and traditions.

From the clay-rich hills of Menfi and the red soils of Vittoria, to Noto, the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna and the windswept vineyards of Capo Milazzo, each Planeta estate has its own distinct identity.

Rather than simply asking “Which grape?”, Planeta encourages us to ask “Where?” – exploring how Sicily’s indigenous and international varieties express themselves in these very different corners of the island.
