Event Description
Come and celebrate “International Orange Wine Day” with us on Friday 6th October. Orange wine is the one of the oldest styles of wine with a history that dates back over 6,000 years to an ancient country that we now call Georgia. Recently rediscovered by the wine cognoscenti, its popularity has spread throughout the world as people discover the deliciousness of a white wine made like a red. It can be a lot of fun or it can be eminently serious, it’s often a little bit funky.
Orange wine is crafted using white grape varietals, where the juice is left to ferment on the grape skins for an extended period. This process imparts a distinct orange hue to the wine and imbues it with an array of fascinating flavours and textures. Orange wine is known for its complexity, earthy undertones, and the perfect balance between vibrant acidity and gentle tannins.
No longer the secret of the East, Orange wine is now made throughout the world and we’ll bring 6 different orange wines to the table for you to discover the style you prefer. With more structure than your average white wine, orange wine has the ability to go with most foods so we’ll have a couple of cheeses to pair it with along the way
