Event Description
We all know the New World for certain grapes, regions and styles, but what about the wines that don’t fit the usual mould?
From Australia and New Zealand to South Africa, the USA and South America, the New World has developed a fascinating and diverse wine culture, drawing on European winemaking traditions while forging its own identity.
This tasting looks beyond the familiar and explores the less expected side of these wine-producing countries. We’ll discover lesser-known regions, grape varieties you may not have come across before, and wines that challenge the styles and varieties we normally associate with a particular place.
We’ll taste at least six wines and explore the regions, grape varieties and winemaking choices behind each one and chance to discover something a little out of the ordinary.
No tasting experience is necessary — all levels of knowledge are welcome at our events.
We serve a few nibbles at our tastings to enjoy alongside the wines, but please note that these are not intended as a substantial meal.
All guests must be at least 18 years old to attend this event.
When booking, please ensure the 'quantity' in your basket matches the number of people attending (including if booking with a gift voucher).
Your booking for this event is with Hertfordshire Wine School, not the venue. If you have any questions about your booking, please contact us directly — the venue won’t be able to assist with booking-related queries.
Please note the tasting space is located on the first floor and can only be accessed via a flight of stairs, with no lift available.
