Join us for our evening tasting, Tour de France. which covers the classic French Wine Regions.
We will taste at least 6 white and red wines which will showcase the best of these world class regions.
The Loire Valley
In the wettest part of France, the North West, they call it 'The Garden of France' as it is beautifully green and lush. Here lies the Loire Valley, a grape growing area famous as the home of Sauvignon Blanc.
Burgundy
Nestling in the centre of France, Burgundy is a wine region locked in any wine aficionado's heart. It is steeped in tradition and home to classic grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Gamay and the expressive and elegant Pinot Noir. It's also where you'll find some of the most prestigious wines on the planet, from areas such as Puligny-Montrachet, Chablis and Nuits-St-Georges.
Bordeaux
Bordeaux is probably the World's most famous wine region and we all know it as the home of ‘Claret’ the generic name we give to the region’s classic reds. But there is much more to this warm, south-westerly part of France. The climate and soils are perfectly suited to the red grapes Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot but the region also produces deliciously vibrant & complex whites from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. If you thought that Bordeaux was just about expensive red wines, this tasting will reveal how much variety is really available - delicious food-friendly reds & whites to suit every budget.
The Rhone Valley
The classic wine region of the Rhone Valley is home to the seductive Syrah grape and the generous Grenache. The styles of wines are rather different between the Northern and Southern Rhone which you will discover on tasting.
The South of France
The South of France has a wonderful Mediterranean climate which is not just fantastic for holidaying in, but also great for growing ripe grapes loaded with flavour. We will explore some regions renowned for their quality, but it is the wide range and affordability of wines from the South, that we’re sure will surprise and delight you!
