Event Description
The French wine regions of Savoie and Jura lie in the foothills of the alps and are small in terms of production compared to other parts of the country.
What they lack in size though they make up for in interest. This fascinating tasting will introduce you to the wines, grapes and wine styles of these two under the radar French wine regions.
In Jura Chardonnay and Savagnin are the two key white grapes and Poulsard, Pinot Noir and Trousseau are used for reds. Styles vary from the famous Vin Jaune to reductively made dry whites, Cremant, reds, rosé, sweet wines (Vin de Paille) and Macvin.
Savoie whites are made from Jacquere, Altesse and Rousanne whilst Mondeuse and Gamay are used for reds. 70% of production is dry white wines. Reds and rosés are increasing and this is a little cremant made.
This tasting includes six different well chosen wines, a digital presentation, hand out notes and some alpine cheese and crackers.
