Event Description
Much as we love and value Manchester’s many great independent wine merchants, we know that most people begin their wine journey in the supermarket. But when you enter the wine aisle, you’re faced with hundreds of bottles and very little to help you choose which to buy – where do you start?
That’s where Scaling the Wall of Wine comes in. This is an Introduction to Wine in which you’ll discover…
- why some wines cost more than others
- how ‘special’ those special offers really are
- why you might want to think again about plucking that beautifully-coloured rosé off the top shelf
- how to make the most of that wine once you’ve got it home
- which countries/regions are the most reliable in the world
- which countries/regions are the best and worst value on the shelves
- which areas are best left to the specialists. And with that in mind…
- where to go next once you’ve scaled the wall of wine
On the way, we’ll be trying (at least) six of our favourite supermarket wines, with some cheese and crackers on the side.
For those who don’t know much about wine, it’s a great chance to being an exploration of this wonderful subject. And for those who know a little more, it’s a chance to learn some of the tips we’ve picked up over our many years in the wine world. See you there!
