Event Description
When it comes to the country that has the highest average standard of wine not just in Europe but in the whole world, then Austria is up there near (and possibly at) the top. If its wines aren’t on your radar, then they should be.
Within its borders, you’ll find Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners varying from sleek and slinky to rich and powerful, as well as a range of reds that takes in fragrant Pinot Noir-lookalikes (made from the local grape St Laurent) to intense and ageworthy (hello Blaufränkisch). There’s the fascinating field blend called Gemischter Satz, there’s Alpine-influenced Sauvignon Blanc, there’s orange wine and of course there are the splendid sweet wines.
In our first ever in-depth look at the wonders of Austria, we’ll attempt to cram as many of these styles into the tasting as we can – expect at least eight wines (average price of £30+), probably nine, and possibly ten. BUT we only have one bottle of everything, so places are limited – grab yours now for what we expect to be a very popular and fascinating tasting!
