Jack Sprite could drink no white
His wife could drink no red
And so they bought a glass of each
And supped on those instead
Apologies for the doggerel but not for putting on a tasting devoted to white wines, especially at a time of year when the weather is (in theory) beginning to improve. Red wines have their fans – and we have a tasting specially for them HERE – but so too do whites. And in this special tasting, we’ll be showing the huge diversity of white wines, ranging from gentle and pale-as-a-mountain-stream to bold, intense concoctions that will happily take on robust food and come out at the other side smiling.
The line-up of seven wines will feature some well-known names and grapes –white Burgundy and New World Sauvignon Blanc for instance – but there’ll also be some excursions into tasty but unfamiliar territory. It’s a set of wines that will show that whites can be every bit as tasty and complex as reds. And we’ll be serving them alongside some fine cheeses from one of our favourite cheesemongers.
Do join us for what should be a great afternoon – it’ll be all white on the night!
(OK, the afternoon, but you know what we mean...)
