For many people the glass of fizz at the start of the meal is among the most enjoyable drink of the evening. These wines are crafted by the wine maker and the processes involved in making the sparkle is key. We will try different Champagne look-a-likes from around the world (e.g. Cava, Prosecco) to compare Champagne and see if you can spot you Cremant from your Cap Classique!
We will learn about the historical method that gives us the most beautiful bubbly and look at the terms on the labels (e.g. 'NV', 'Brut' and 'Blanc de Blanc') and what these actually tell us about the wine inside the bottle. But the world of sparkling wine is far more diverse than Champagne alone - we will also examine other wines made in the same way and ask 'are they as good?'
Champagne with fish and chips is a classic food and wine pairing that simply must be experienced!
Throughout the evening you will find out:
- How different sparkling wines are made
- What accounts for the varying styles and tastes

- Are there are any better value alternatives that really hit the spot?
