Event Description
Natural wines are more of a movement than a defined category of wine. Although there have been several attempts to agree minimum standards and manifestos by producer groups, a global definition remains elusive and this to some extent has held back these wines in the minds of consumers.
Common themes include no chemicals used in the vineyard, natural yeasts and no adjustments in the winery. The aspiration is to make wine with as little intervention as possible from the healthiest grapes that express their vineyard environment.
Natural wines are typically juicy, linear and refreshing. They can be fruity easy drinking wines or complex and age-worthy. Styles range from white, rosé and red to skin contact and Pet Nat wines.
Brighton has a good range of these wines on offer at independent wine shops and restaurants and is a city that enjoys these wines.
We will taste six well chosen natural wines and get under the skin of natural wines so to speak at this fascinating two hour tasting.
The tasting includes some cheeses, hand out notes and a digital presentation.
