Following on from the popular French Wine Scholar, Italian Wine Scholar and Spanish Wine Scholar courses, we are thrilled to announce the long-awaited launch of the German Wine Scholar® (GWS) program—the first of its kind from the Wine Scholar Guild, dedicated exclusively to the wines of Germany. Meticulously curated by top German wine authorities, this groundbreaking program offers the most detailed and structured learning journey ever created on German wines.

Who is the course for?
German Wine Scholar® is an advanced course designed for dedicated wine enthusiasts and industry professionals, GWS provides the keys to understanding the nuanced appellations, viticultural marvels, art of winemaking, historic landmarks, and rich traditions that make German wine a global benchmark.

With the German Wine Scholar® program, you're not just learning; you're enriching your understanding and appreciation of German wine.
What's Included:
- Live, in-person tuition by an accredited German Wine Scholar tutor bringing the region to life in an immersive classroom setting
- Wine tasting - you will taste approximately six wines per session
- Study Manual: Students will receive the German Wine Scholar Study Manual, a comprehensive guide to ALL German wine
- Online package: Students will have access to a complete E-Learning Package including multimedia modules with webinars on regional wine styles, review quizzes, forums, downloadable maps and more (Note: access to the online package is valid for 1 year only)
- Duration of course: 9 evenings inclusive of examination. Evenings will last from 7pm until approximately 9pm.
- Examination: 100 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 60 minutes. A mark of 75% required to pass
- Certification: All students who pass will be issued with a digital certificate - and may purchase a qualification pin from Wine Scholar Guild
Regions covered: Mosel, Rheingau, Ahr, Mittelrhein, Pfalz, Rheinhessen, Nahe, Baden, Franken, Hessische Bergstraße, Saale-Unstrut, Württemberg, Sachsen.
Plus: A Foundation Unit covering: German wine history, grape varieties, viticulture and winemkaing terms, wine law and more.

- 18th Feb - Study Break - No class
- Thurs 25th Feb 2027 - Baden and Württemberg
- Thurs 4th Mar 2027 - Franken, Saale-Unstrut and Sachsen
- Thurs 11th Mar 2027 - Revision session
- Thurs 18th Mar 2027 - Exam session
