Event Description
As the seasons change and the nights draw in, we start to alter our wine buying habits and preferences. For most of us, out go light, crisper whites and gentle, strawberry scented rose wines and in come full-bodied, rich, tannic reds and whites with a fuller, richer style.
Not only do these wines pair well with the time of year, but they go beautifully with the change in seasonal foods. As the autumn leaves fall, our meals take on a more earthy, autumnal character with game, mushrooms, slow roasted Pork, pumpkin & squash all taking centre stage. These more robust flavours need a punchier style of wine and, if you know where to look, there is a wine for everyone.
We'll explore textured whites with great structure to pair with autumnal flavours such as Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Viognier. With reds, the spicy blends form the Southern Cotes-du-Rhone are a joy at this time of year, along with high altitude Malbecs from Argentina and earthy Pinot Noirs from Oregon.
Your wine tasting will include: tasting samples of six carefully selected wines, light nibbles paired with each wine, full wine notes & handouts, 2 hour interactive presentation with Q&A
