Event Description
Sauvignon Blanc has long been the backbone of classic Loire wines. The late 1970s saw the planting of Sauvignon Blanc vines in Marlborough and the rest, as they say, is history.
But that brief overview does very little to celebrate the diversity of this majestically aromatic grape which comes in a surprisingly wide array of styles from lightly aromtic & richer and full bodied.
We'll also put to bed the myth that Sauvignon doesn't like time in oak barrel. In the right hands, and if done with great care, Sauvignon shows suprising depth and power when gentle oaked.
The line-up of wines will change according to what's available, but we'll explore the following styles:
The Classic French One - Sauvignon in all its zesty, minerality.
The Kiwi One - Sauvignon from a barrel!
The One from Napa - Sauvignon when grown surrounded by fog & sea breeze.
The Passionate Latino One - fragrant and opulent from Chile's Casablanca region.
The Heavy-weight One! -Fragrant Sauvignon blended with weighty Semillon & barrel aged.
Your tasting will include: a tasting samples of six carefully selected wines, tasting samples of artisan cheeses, full wine notes & handouts, a 2 hour interactive presentation, with Q&A, led by our wine tutor.
