The days of "BIB" wines being cheap & cheerful are rapidly dying and the wine industry is taking a seriously long, hard look at the traditional bottle as a 21st Century form of packaging. It's heavy, cubersome to transport, requires high levels of energy to make & recycle and it's very fragile!
In Europe there is no stigma at all to drinking wine from BIB. It is a perfectly normal and accepted thing to buy en-BIB from your local winery or co-operative. Sales in BIB in France account for nearly 1/3 of all wine sales and a staggering 50% in Sweden and Norway.
So, we thought we'd put this all to the test. We'll select 3 delicious BIB or pouch wines & 3 equally delicious wines from traditional bottles. We'll decant them all and taste them blind. Is there a quality difference? How is the carbon footprint affected by our purchasing decision? Most importantly, which do you prefer?
Join us for a really fun evening of blind tasting and enjoy some seriously tasty wines from a BIB - after all, when was the last time you had milk from a glass bottle?
Your tasting will include: 6 tasting portions of our chosen wines, tasting samples of local cheeses, wine handouts, 2 hr interactive presentation, led by our wine expert, with plenty of time for Q&A.
