Event Description
“What other parts of the world should we be featuring in our Masterclasses,” we asked. And we were surprised and delighted in equal measure when the response came back, “Germany!”
Now we like, no, LOVE (good) German wines, and as a result of this excess of enthusiasm, we find ourselves with quite a few bottles of Riesling in particular in the MWS cellars that can very easily slot into this tasting from the Mosel, Nahe, Pfalz, Rheingau and Rheinhessen, ranging from bone-dry to something a little sweeter.
We’re going to augment this selection with a couple (maybe more) of wines made from a grape more readily associated with France, but which has been turning heads on the opposite side of the Rhine namely Spätburgunder AKA Pinot Noir. Never had German Pinot? It’s eye-openingly good, and deserves to be far better known, and this is a great opportunity to see what the fuss is about.
As with all our masterclasses, there’ll be eight wines with an average price well in excess of £25 per bottle. Actually, make that eight and a half – we’ll slip in a couple of halves of Trockenbeerenauslese as a sweet finale. There’ll also be some cheese to chomp on between the mouthfuls of nectar. Do join us as we raise a glass and shout, “Prost!”
