Event Description
The Albert Bichot company was established in Beaune in 1831 by Bernard Bichot. Like many similarly-venerable Burgundy companies, it wasn’t at its best during the second half of the 20th century, but since then it has come on in leaps and bounds.
I’m a panel chair at the International Wine Challenge, where since 2000, Bichot has been chosen as White Winemaker of the Year once, and Red winemaker of the Year twice – their haul in the last five years alone has been 27 Trophies and 33 Gold medals
Further praise comes from Beaune-based Master of Wine Jasper Morris, author of the award-winning Inside Burgundy: “Bichot is now a serious player with some excellent red wines which avoid showing too much of a house style, and some fine whites.”
So we’re delighted to be able to put on a Bichot Masterclass featuring the following:
Whites
Domaine Adélie Bourgogne Aligoté Champ Renard 2022
Domaine Long-Depaquit Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2022
Albert Bichot Saint-Veran 2022
Domaine de Pavillon Meursault 2022
Reds
Albert Bichot Morgon Les Charmes 2020
Château de Dracy Bourgogne 2020
Albert Bichot Chorey-lès-Beaune 2018
Albert Bichot Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Château Gris 2018
And having tasted through the range earlier this year, we know it’s going to be a splendid tasting. The average price per bottle across the 8 wines is over £35, and a couple of them top the £60 mark, so the price of £55 is something of a bargain – see you there!
