Event Description
The Rhône Valley is essentially the "soul food" of the wine world—rich, warming, and deeply satisfying. Explore the slopes of this world-famous valley from the prestigious, granite-sloped North to the sun-drenched, herb-scented South. So, what you can you expect?
The "Big Two" Red Grapes - the Rhône is famous for the interplay between heat and soil, resulting in two distinct personalities:
Syrah - the Northern Star! Syrah is king. Expect dark fruit, black pepper, and sometimes a savory "smoked meat" or olive note. It’s structural and elegant and we'll explore some of the best examples.
Grenache (The Southern Heart): In Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Grenache takes the lead. It brings high alcohol, plush red fruit (strawberry/raspberry), and a distinct spiciness often described as garrigue—the scent of wild lavender, rosemary, and thyme that grows in the region.
The "Under-the-Radar" Whites: while the reds get the glory, the whites are the secret weapon of the Rhône - rich, full-bodied and volumtous Viognier, Marsanne & Rousanne.
So join us for an evening of soulful wine tasting!
The evening will include tasting portions of six carefully selected wines, some tasting samples of local cheese, a 2 hr interactive presentation led by our wine expert with plenty of time for Q&A.
