Event Description
A truly spectacular evening - Chateauneuf-du-Pape has a presence that can command a room, much like the bold, sun-drenched Grenache slopes that define it.
This stellar wine region is truly prestigious, and rightly so!
It's the big boss of the southern Rhone wine appellations and is in fact the oldest wine appellation in France - the wines are the jewels in the French winemaking crown.
The 13 (or 18) Grapes: While Grenache is the king, the appellation technically allows 13 varieties (counting colors separately brings it to 18). It's one of the few places where red and white grapes can be blended together.
The "Galets Roulés": Those famous large, smooth river stones in the vineyards aren't just for show. They act like natural storage heaters, soaking up the fierce Provençal sun by day and radiating that heat back to the vines at night.
The Papal Crest: That iconic embossed bottle (crossed keys and a papal tiara) was created in 1937 to protect the brand from fraud. If the bottle is smooth, it’s usually a sign the wine was bottled outside the region!
Join us as we explore the very best that appellation has to offer - it will be a real treat of a wine evening!
