Ukraine Charity Tasting

There are no upcoming dates for this event. Please view all events.

Duration
2 hours

Event Description

We have all seen the horrific coverage of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. Many of us wish we could do something to alleviate the suffering- especially among children - caused by Russia's invasion.

Sofia is a Ukranian woman married to an English man. They live in Woburn with their two small children. Sofia works for global cosmetics company Oriflame who have agreed to match fund all donations to their charity -The Oriflame Foundation - which will be earmarked for the Save the Children Ukraine Appeal. In the last two weeks they have raised over £30,000.

We have decided to put on a special 'Wines of Eastern Europe' tasting on Friday 18th March at the Milton Keynes Gallery, who have kindly agreed to donate the venue free of charge. The price is £35 per person, of which £30 will go to the charity.

There are 24 places available on a 'first come, first served' basis.

No Gift Vouchers can be used for this tasting.

All tastings include full tasting notes, tasting sheet, use of professional tastings glasses and nibbles.

Among the six wines to be tasted will be from

Hungary

One of the most famous wines in the world is produced in Hungary - the dessert wine Tokaji. During the 19th century, Tokaji was the "Cristal" of it's day, being the wine of choice for Kings and Emperors across Europe.  Tonight we will sample both a dry and a lusciously sweet version alongside some blue cheese.

Romania

Romania is one of the world's largest wine producers and fifth largest among European wine-producing countries. In 2018 it produced around 5.2 million hectolitres of wine. In recent years, Romania has attracted many European business people and wine buyers, due to the affordable prices of both vineyards and wines compared to other wine-producing nations

Georgia

The lush valleys and shielding slopes of Transcaucasia have been home to vine cultivation and winemaking for at least 8,000 years. Due to this, the traditions of wine are weaved into Georgia‘s national identity
