Event Description
With mountains and cool ocean currents and more than 2,500 miles north to south, Chile has a mulitude of different climates helpinig them to do it all from fresh and vibrant Sauvignon Blancs to silky and smooth Cabernet Sauvignons and aromatic varieties such as Riesling and Gewurztraminer.
Argentina, on the other side of the Andes, has an entirely different climate which is much hotter and arid. It also has its own expression of Malbec and a unique and wonderfully aromatic grape variety called Torrontes which thrives in some of the highest vineyards in the world. All are great value for money, but we will also discover what happens when you spend more money on these wines.
During the evening we will cover:
- the grape varieties used in Chile and Argentina
- the influence of local geography on the vineyards
- Carménère and Torrontes - distinct and unusual grapes
- how to assess wine quality at higher prices
All tastings include: a minimum of 6 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, use of professional tasting glasses and nibbles.
(Note, this evening is part of our core 8-week World of Wine course - book the 8 evening course and save £50! It's flexible, so if you have to skip an evening let us know in advance and you can pick it up next time it runs).
All our courses can be purchased as a Gift either as a dated or undated voucher.
