Online 3 wk Course: Roam Around The Rhone

Hop on board for a ramble round the Rhone Valley as we enjoy a plethora of vinous delights; whites, rose, red and a sweetie. Most exciting of all, we have secured a small allocation of the legendary Chateauneuf du Pape from Chateau de Beaucastel!

Our first foray into the world of online tastings from home in 2022 brings you a treasure trove of wines delivered directly to your door to be savoured and enjoyed every Friday night on Zoom with Laura. We all feel like treating ourselves when the January blues take hold, and this is a chance to kick back with great food supplied by Su's recipe cards and delicious wine!

• Night 1- Northern Rhone A pair of Vielles Vignes delights from Tardieu-Laurent with a beautiful St Peray to kick things off. This is one of only a handful of Northern Rhone appellations which makes only white wines, and the only one of those to work with Marsanne and Roussane rather than Viognier. Fleshy, ripe and peachy with hints of melon and red apple, a glass of this will lift the January gloom! Followed up by a beautiful Syrah from St Joseph; earthy, farmyardy, smoky and deep with autumnal fruit this is a proper glassful! • Night 2- All White On The Night The Southern Rhone is a hotbed of different grape varieties, including a mindboggling 12 different white varities. Tonight we'll enjoy two wines, one dry and one sweet, made from just some of these varieties. A delightful Cotes du Rhone Blanc shows off a blend of Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Roussane and Clairette, whilst our Muscat de Beaumes de Venise shows off the aromatic delights of the Muscat grape in a sweet Vin du Natural. Bottles- Cotes du Rhone Blanc 'Les Becs Fins' Tardieu-Laurent 2019 (RRP £16.95) and Muscat de Beaumes de Venise Domaine Coyeux 2009 in a half bt (RRP £10.95)
• Night 3- Glorious Grenache A tasting to revel in two of the finest Southern Rhone Cru of them all, starting with the King of Rose, Tavel. This is the only AOC in Rhone to produce exclusively Rose and is well-known for its rich, full-bodied and flavoursome wines. Next up we have the star of the Rhone Valley with the legendary Chateauneuf du Pape made by the Perrin family at Chateau de Beaucastel. Hankered after by wine collectors and fine wine fans, this is a wine which features on many wine lovers bucket list!
