What makes seemingly similar wines have vastly different price tags? Is it worth paying more for a bottle? Or best stick with what you know and like? Test your taste buds as we compare wines at £7.50, £15 and £30 without knowing which is which...
Our 4 week courses are amongst the popular of all of our events. They are particularly enjoyed by those who have already done the 8 week World of Wine Course or completed the WSET Courses and are wondering what might tempt them next...
Blind tasting formats are really popular at YWS! The chance to compare, contrast and judge different wines without knowing their identity or price is fascinating for all those who think they know about wine. Twice The Price is our unique 4 wk format which allows you to compare 3 wines, made from the same grape and in the same region, but at very different price points.
Do you think it will be easy to taste the difference between a £7.50 Soave, a £15 one, and finally a £30 one? Do you know why some Rioja cost a fiver and yet others cost £50? Learning the facts behind the price tag, discovering what you are paying extra for, and finally, tasting the difference for yourself, this is what Twice The Price is all about.
An element of competition is always appreciated at Wine School, so we'll keep the price tag of the wines a mystery until the end. And we will ask you to vote after each wine to see if you can pick the plonk and figure out the fine wine. Each evening will be hosted with a short lesson on how and why wines are priced the way that they are, and Laura's top tips on blind tasting.
The results aren't always accurate but the laughs are always loud! Friendly competition, head scratching blind tasting challenges, and a proper surprise reveal at the end. A must for all keen wine buffs out there!
