ONLINE TASTING: Fine Wine - Discovering Chablis

Event Description

Join wine school founder Jimmy Smith as he leads you through the classic region of Chablis discovering six world-class wines from old vine Chablis, Premier Cru Chablis to Grand Cru Chablis. The tasting will also discover a variety of aged examples from 2005, 2010 and 2015-2019. This will showcase the fantastic ability for fine Chardonnay to age exceptionally well.

Chablis is an historic wine-producing town and region in northern central France. It produces light, dry, white wines famed for their flinty minerality and crisp acidity. AOC Chablis wines are produced exclusively from the famous Chardonnay grape variety.

Chablis wines are made in a style rather different from those produced elsewhere in Burgundy. They are drier and fresher, rather than more weighty and richly flavoured. Most basic Chablis is fermented and aged in stainless steel, with use of oak barrels more common in higher-level wines, though used larger barrels are more likely to be employed than new barriques, and wines will spend a shorter time in them than in the Côte d'Or.

Tasting Date: Friday 26 February 2021 at 7:00pm (the tasting will last approximately 1.5 - 2 hours)

For this special two-hour tasting, an exclusive tasting kit is included in the listed price which includes a 75ml tasting sample of each wine, as well as tasting mat, tasting note paper and pen. Note: Tasting kits will be despatched to attendees within the week leading up to the tasting. Two weeks prior to the event, we will confirm postal addresses for all kit deliveries.

DON'T WANT TO RECEIVE A TASTING KIT? We understand that not everyone will want to receive the wine samples, and would rather just register to participate in the online evening without the wines. Just enter the promotional code: 80REGONLY when checking out to ensure you just pay the registration cost.
