To help celebrate Rioja wine month this October, we are honoured to be hosting an evening with Winemaker Miguel Ángel de Gregorio from Rioja's fantastic Finca Allende.
One of Rioja's top 'modernistas', Miguel's philosophy is that wine is made in the vineyard and he seeks to express the individual qualities of each site, rather than highlight barrel ageing that traditionally dominates this region and can mask the true character of the wines.
A viticulturist, whose family have been growing grapes for five centuries, Miguel's focus is on the outstanding and unique terroirs of Briones, with time spent in the vineyard cultivating the finest fruit possible, rather than a focus on the cellar (always a good sign).
His top wines are some of the most sought after in the region and he does not dice his words, if you really want an insight into what modern Rioja is all about, this is the tasting for you!
