Bordeaux - The 2000 Vintage
What is great about this vintage is that in almost all cases the grapes obviously ripened properly (unlike so many Bordeaux vintages) and yet it has delightful freshness (unlike 2003), gentle tannins (unlike 2005) and seriously impressive harmony. The vintage sits amongst the top tier, often lauded in the same league (or close to) 2009, 2005, 1996 and 1990. Many chateaux in the smaller Bordeaux, satellite appellations also produced some of the best wines of their career. 2000 Bordeaux wine was great from top to bottom.
