Event Description
Let's talk about California. On the one hand, we get the cheap, soft, sweet, pink wines that can be found by the bucket load in the supermarket and then there's the super-premium, super-expensive world of boutique Napa Valley wineries, as shown in the film 'Sideways'. So, what's the real Californian wine? Tonight we will dodge the stereotypes and discover rich, strawberry scented Zinfandel (the red, not the pink!), and a glorious award-winning Viognier. Californian wines are elusive and often expensive, but they are able to compete with some of the best in the world. Come along and taste for yourself!
Chile is often described as one of the most perfect places to grow grapes on the planet. We'll talk about climatic and geographical influences that make this country unique, and try some of the most exciting and best value wines on the market.
Argentina, on the other side of the giant Andes mountain range has a personality all of it's own and produces some spectacular and unique wines. As well as the world famous Malbecs, Argentina also produces the crisp, perfumed Torrontes - a fashionable and up and coming grape variety which we'll delve into tonight.
Come and see what the New World has to offer and maybe discover something new!
Tutored tasting of six wines on the evening.
