Event Description
Join us for our evening tasting, Tour de France Stage 1, which explores the classic French regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy. We will taste at least six red and white wines which showcase the best of these two world-class wine regions.
Part 1 - Bordeaux
Bordeaux is the world's most famous fine wine region which we know as the home of ‘Claret’, the generic name given to the region’s classic reds. We'll explain why the moderate maritime climate of south-west France is the spiritual home of red grapes Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and reveal why the regions powerful, ageworthy wines are some of the most sought after world wide. We'll introduce you to the Chateaux system and explain why in Bordeaux, reputation is everything. We'll also share the story of the regions elegant white wines and lusciously sweet wines too.
Part 2 - Burgundy
Nestling in the centre of France, Burgundy is a wine region locked in any wine aficionado's heart. It is steeped in tradition and home to classic grape varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It's also where you'll find some of the most prestigious wines on the planet, from areas such as Puligny-Montrachet, Chablis and Nuits-St-Georges. Through a careful selection of wines that demonstrate the style and typicity of wines from Burgundy you'll get a thorough understanding of what makes the 'terroir' of this region so special. A delightful region to taste your way through.
