Event Description

The ancient cradle of Mediterranean wine making, Greece today is a source of distinctive, high-quality wines.  

Greece is different. Indigenous grape varieties grown in a variety of terroirs produce wines with a unique character

Over four weeks we will explore the wine regions from mainland highlands to sun kissed islands. From Cephalonia to Crete, Macedonia to Santorini. Discovering the A to X of unpronounceable Greek grape varieties from Assyrtiko to Xinomavro.

A special mixed case of 8 wines has been selected for us by Border Wines, online retailers specializing in Greek Wines from small, family producers.

The case of eight wines costs £142.99 Inc. free delivery. That represents a £10 discount exclusive to this course for a case of wines that you will not find elsewhere.

Gentilini Robola of Cephalonia, Ionian Islands, Greece - Unique to Cephalonia, this is vivacious with smoky and mineral aromas along apple and white peach scents.

Semeli Mantinia Nassiakos, PDO Mantinia, Peloponnese, Greece - Lively, complex Moschofilero from lofty Mantinia in the Peloponnese, crafted by the acknowledged master of the grape

Hatzidakis Santorini Familia, PDO Santorini, Greece - Intense Assyrtiko from the leading lights of winemaking on Santorini – fabulous

Reds

Thymiopoulos, Earth and Sky, PDO Naoussa, Macedonia, Greece - Barolo-like Xinomavro from Thymiopoulos oldest vines, fresh and age-worthy

Tetramythos Agiorgitiko Natur, PGI Peloponnese, Greece - High altitude Agiorgitiko, elegant ripe fruit and velvety palate

Tetramythos Black of Kalavryta, PGI Achaia, Peloponnese, Greece - A rare variety saved from extinction, elegant ripe fruit and velvety palate reminiscent of a Northern Rhone Syrah

Karavitakis 'Little Prince' Red, Chania, Crete, Greece - Full of generous velvety dark-plum fruit, and rich on the palate
